Avian Effigy from Costa Rica, ca. 200 - 500 AD. An exquisite avian vessel from Costa Rica, ca. 200 - 500 AD. This rare Guinea Incised example is 7 long and rests on a trio of hollow legs containing rattles. Appliquéd to the front is a hollow head with curved beak, with wings and tail created by the incised flange encircling the chamber. The intricate geometric designs decorating the walls of the chamber are characteristic of this style. Ex De Pasquale estate. Cf.
