"Etude de la Construction Pratique des Bâtiments de Mer", by Lt de Kersauzon-Pennendreff, Ecole Navale, 1842, 318pp + 5 folding plans, half-leather, title signed by Julhiet and with two ship doodles.
"Du Rôle de la France Dans les Mers de Chine et du Japon", by a "Général in pactibus", pamphlet, 22pp, undated and un-bound, with the "Timbre Imperiale" stamp. This seems to pre-date another version of this rare publication, as by "Thée-Ta-Jin, Mandarin Militaire Européen", published by Benjamin Duprat, Paris, 1866.

Jules François Bonaventure Julhiet, born at Valence (Drôme) 3 December 1824, died 18 August 1898. His service record shows:-

In China he served under Admiral Constant Louis Jean Benjamin Jaurès, who had succeeded Admiral Proted (killed near Shanghai, 17 May 1862). Jaurès is better remembered for service around Japan, being present at the Bombardment of Shimonoseki (1863) and the Boshin War (1868-1869). Following the Namamugi incident, it would seem most likely that Julhiet was present at the Franco-Anglo-Japanese conference on the French ship Sémiramis, 2 July 1863.

Estimate: US$10,000-12,000
