Hadrian; 117-138 AD, Rome, Late 117 AD, Denarius, 2.93g. BM-38, RSC-744a, RIC-18. Obv: Bust laureate r. with bare chest, fold of cloak on front shoulder and behind neck. Rx: FORT RED in exergue, P M TR P COS DES II around, Fortuna Redux seated l. holding rudder and cornucopia. Rare issue of late 117 announcing Hadrian's impending entry into his second consulship on 1 January 118. With this reverse type only one specimen in Reka Devnia hoard, none in Berk photofile. EF
