South Africa, 1961, Medal, UNC; Formation of the Republic of South Africa. Coat of arms of the Republic of South Africa with supporters, lion crest and motto: "EX UNITAE VIRES/Cape Town Castle rendered in a pentagonal shape containing: "31–5–1961". Gold medal stamped at the foot: "(springbok head) 9CT m (for 1960) S.A.M". Also made in silver and bronze. Gold quite scarcely found.
