SICILY, Syracuse. Second Democracy. 466-405 BC. Æ Trias (15mm, 3.55 g). Obverse die signed by Euainetos?. Struck circa 410-405 BC. Head of Arethousa left, hair in sphendone; E behind neck / Star of eight rays within incuse circle in center of quadripartite incuse square. Holloway, Further, Series 2; CNS 18 mv 1 corr. (E not noted); HGC 2, 1481. VF, dark green patina, slightly off center on obverse.

The high quality of the dies used for these coins leads some to speculate that it is the E on the obverse is the signature of an engraver, particularly that of the famed Euainetos, who is best known for his dekadrachm and tetradrachm issues.
