Brazil Republica dos Estados do Brasil 1000 Cruzeiros ND (1949) Pick UNL Specimen Presentation Booklet. An approximate 9 by 6 inch booklet holding both uniface face and back Specimens in four different colors of an unadopted design of the 1000 Cruzeiros. Each uniface side is in a paper money holder and each holder has been mounted on a separate page. The portrait is of Luis Alves de Lima e Silva, Duke of Caxias. His portrait is found on 2 Cruzeiro notes of the 1940s and 50s. His birthday of August 25th became the "Day of the Soldier" in 1925 for commemorating the Brazilian army. He is known as both "The Peacemaker" and the "Iron Duke." He fought with distinction in several wars, revolts, and rebellions including, but not limited to, the Independence of Brazil, the Cisplatine War, the Ragamuffin War, the Platine War, and the Paraguayan War. His military career encompassed the years 1821 to 1869. The front cover has emblazoned on it the date written in the form of "26-7-(1)949" and the flyleaf has added information including a penned statement with the date of "Jul 26/7/49." The notes grade Choice Crisp Uncirculated with two of the faces displaying signs of mounting.
