Charlotte Town, PEI- Bank of Prince Edward Island $5 Jan. 1, 1877 CH. # 600-12-12a This is a fully signed $5 issue with red overprints. This bank was a successful and conservatively managed institution until a new cashier was appointed in 1876. Within a year, the bank became insolvent due to a series of large advances made by the cashier under false pretenses, and by 1881, its doors had closed forever. PMG Very Good 10.
