Victoria, 1837-1901. Penny, 1841, London. PCGS MS64RB. 18.80 g. 34 mm. Mintage: 914,000. S-3948. The threshold between the designation RB ('Red-Brown') and the coveted RD ('Red') designations is at 5 %, meaning no more than 5 % of a coin's surface can have non-original colour. The penny offered here is surely very close to that 5 % and very scarce as such. A MS64RB example sold for $517 (incl. BP) at Heritage Auctions in February 2015, however this example shows a lot more mint lustre and 'redness'! In a protective plastic holder and graded PCGS MS64RB. Certification number 81109862
