Confederation Franc 1851-A MS66 NGC, Paris mint, KM9, HMZ-21203b. A sublime gem example of the type with gorgeous satiny radiant luster on both sides. The obverse has a pastel orange tone that highlights the seated liberty with tones of moss, light turquoise, and magenta. There is a bit of cabinet friction on the high points and the strike is extremely full. The reverse has an even sharper strike than the obverse with tones of light champagne, light blue, and traces of light tangerine. We sold this over a year ago for $763 in our April CICF issue and expect good competition for this coin because of it's superlative eye appeal. If you like this coin we encourage you to view the 1850-A 2 Francs as well that is in this sale which is nothing short of exemplary.
