Confederation 2 Francs 1850-A MS64 NGC, Paris mint, KM10a, HMZ-21201a. I showed this coin to the cataloger sitting next to me and it seemed that they weren't in a hurry to hand it back to me. Visually this specimen is so marvelous in hand it makes nice coins look generic. I'm enamored by how beautifully the obverse luster glows and shows off the strike with a tinge of faint amber toning in the peripheries and fields. The reverse is just as stunning as the obverse as it's struck a tiny bit sharper and mixed within the characters and design motifs is a gorgeous radiance of frost. We sold a similar example in January for $940. I did not see that one in hand, but this one appears to be the same quality or better despite the grade listed on the holder.
