Gela. Didrachm (Silver, 18mm, 8.73 g 12), c. 490/85-480/75 BC. Bearded horseman, nude, riding right, brandishing spear in his upraised right hand. Rev. CΕ-Λ-Α Forepart of man-headed bull to right. Jenkins 7. SNG ANS 4. SNG Lloyd 956. A coin of the finest style. Reverse very slightly off-center, and some very minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.

The very early Gela didrachms were of the finest style, and this is no exception. A very well-centered example from these dies recently sold (Tradart, 2014, 34) for €15,000.
