Ptolemy II Philadelphos, 285-246 BC. Pentadrachm (Gold, 23mm, 17.86 g 12), Alexandria, year Λ = 11 = 264. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around his neck. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle with closed wings standing left on a thunderbolt; between legs, Λ; to left, Σ-based monogram above Gallic shield. Svoronos 578. A beautiful, sharp example. Extremely fine.
