Magnus Maximus, 383-388. Solidus (Gold, 20mm, 4.49 g 7), Treveri. D N MAG MAXIMVS P F AVG Rosette-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Magnus Maximus to right. Rev. RESTITVTOR REI PVBLICAE / SMTR Magnus Maximus standing front, his head turned to right, holding labarum with Christogram in his right hand and Victory on globe in his left; in field to left, star. Cohen 4. Depeyrot 50/1. RIC 76. Very rare. A most attractive example with a particularly fine portrait. Minor scratch on obverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
