Netherlands, Deventer. Halftaler Klippe (Silver, 28x28mm, 13.99 g), uniface emergency money for use during the siege by the Prince-Bishop of Münster, 1672. Two stamps: crowned eagle within a circular indent; and, within a rectangular indent, A•1672. Rev. Blank. Delm. 697. Maillet pl, 37, 14. Van Loon III, p. 58, 2. A remarkably attractive, rare and beautifully toned example. Very minor flan crack and, on the reverse, old ink number 15, otherwise, about extremely fine.

In 1672, during the Third Anglo-Dutch War (1672-1674), Deventer was besieged and conquered by the aggressive Prince Bishop of Münster, Christoph Bernhard von Galen.
