LONDON 17th CENTURY TOKENS FROM THE COLLECTION OF QUENTIN ARCHER (PART 1)
BRITISH TOKENS, City of London, Love Lane [Lovat Lane], William Long, Halfpenny, 1667, 2.66g/12h (N –, but cf. 7306, this piece cited; D –). Obverse good fine, reverse fine, of the highest rarity; perhaps the only known specimen £240-300
---
Provenance: A Collection of Tokens relating to the Passage of Mail, Baldwin Auction 38, 4 October 2004, lot 751.
The issuer's earlier token, dated [16]57, is well known and from the footnote in Williamson's Boyne one might infer that the King's Head, Love Lane, was solely a post house for letters (p.667)
