KUSHANO-SASANIAN: Vasu Deva, posthumous issue, 3rd century AD, AV dinar (8.03g), G-691, king standing left // Shiva standing in front of the bull Nandi, minor double-striking on obverse, EF, S. Slightly scyphate strike, prototype for the gold dinars of the Kushano-Sasanian kingdom. The Kushano-Sasanians established their rule in northwestern South Asia, displacing the declining Kushans during the 3rd and 4th centuries. They were later succeeded by the Huna people in 410. After the Sassanids destroyed the Hephthalites in 565, they were able to regain some control, but the Arab attacks of the 7th century caused their eventual collapse.
