MADRAS PRESIDENCY: AV half ashrafi (5.82g), ND (1819), KM-420, Prid-242, EIC issue, with denomination nim ashrafi in Persian on reverse, choice EF, R. The East India Company asked for and received permission to strike their own Arcot rupees. Later, coins of several metals were added. The Madras mint closed in 1869.
