FATIMID: African imitation, 10th century, AR dirham (1.63g), NM, ND, A-746S, both sides identical, totally meaningless Arabic script, 3 pellets above and 3 below the "word" in the central area, VF, RRR. Said to have been found together with a group of silver coins of al-Qa'im, mint of al-Mahdiya (in Tunisia), dated circa AH326-330. Possibly minted in the region now in central or southern Algeria, or less likely, across the Sahara to the south.
