MUGHAL: Shah Jahan I, 1628-1658, AV mohur (10.90g), Surat, AH1047 year 10, KM-260.15, EF. One of the greater accomplishments of Mughal influence was the establishment of a standardized silver currency with the rupee as its base. Rupees were to be 11.6 grams of the purest available silver. The mohur was a supplementary denomination, with 8 rupees being equal to one gold mohur. However, this fixed relationship was often modified in practice by market forces, with a fluctuating silver/gold exchange rate.

Estimate: 1,000-1,200 GBP
