HARTHAMID: Rafi' b. Harthama, 882-884, AR dirham (3.77g), Herat, AH275, A-C1396, also citing the unidentified governor Muhammad b. Ahmad and the caliph al-Mu'tamid, lovely VF, RRR. Only one member of this family, Rafi' b. Harthama, is acknowledged numismatically. He claimed Khorasan after the death of the last Tahirid in 882, but was eventually driven out and, after having attempted a resurgence in central Iran, was killed by the Saffarids.
