KUSHAN: Kanishka, ca. 127-151, AV dinar (7.96g), Mitch-3062, G-60, ANS-380, king standing, crowned, facing left, offering sacrifice upon altar // nimbated deity Nanashao standing, facing right, holding scepter & box, tamgha to right, lovely bold strike, with fine details in the deity's head, choice EF. The Kushan realm reached its height during the reigns of Kanishka and Huvishka, thereafter beginning a decline under Vasu Deva. Kanishka was a supporter of Buddhism. His coinage circulated over a wide area, and was extensively countermarked for use elsewhere and imitated in other areas. The dates of Kanishka's rule have been hotly debated, as there is little evidence to go by for precise dates. The dates given represent a consensus of the approximate time period of his rule.

Estimate: 1,000-1,200 GBP
