ANCIENT COINS, THE COLLECTION OF A CLASSICIST (PART III), Anthemius (AD 467-472), Gold Solidus, mint of Rome, struck c. AD 468, D N ANTHE-MIVS P F AVG, pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust facing, slightly inclined to right, with a spear and a shield, rev SALVS R-[EI] P-VBLICAE, two emperors standing facing, holding spears and supporting a globe surmounted by a cross between them, ROMA monogram and a pellet in field, COMOB in exergue, 4.27g, 6h (RIC 2831; Depeyrot 65/2). Pierced and plugged, light scratches, about very fine and rare.
