ANCIENT COINS, GREEK COINS, Lokris, Lokris Opuntii (c.360-350 BC), Silver Stater, head of Persephone facing left, wearing a wreath of grain leaves, a pearl necklace, and a triple-pendant earring, rev ΟΠΟΝΤΙΩ – Ν, Ajax, naked but for a Corinthian helmet, advancing right, holding a sword and a shield decorated with a griffin and a palmette on its interior, an eight-rayed star on right, above two short spears, 12.26g, 9h (BCD 58 (these dies); Gulbenkian 491 (these dies)). In NGC holder graded strike 5/5, surface 5/5, of attractive style and toned, extremely fine.
