A late Moche III hunting scene from Peru, ca. 400-450 A.D.. The vessel is 9-3/4" high and features two scenes depicting a deer with a spear in its back. The Moche deer hunt is extensively chronicled, having both ritual and food gathering implications in their iconography. This crisply molded example is intact and has good mineral deposits.
