X ., obv bust of John of Gaunt left, JOHN OF GAUNT DUKE OF LANCASTER * around, centre of crown under first limb of K of DUKE, point of star to right edge of ermine, left edge of ermine to I of IOHN, rev shield, LANCASTER HALFPENNY 1791 around, line of shield between C and A of LANCASTER and to centre of E of HALFPENNY (D&H Lancashire 19); obv centre of crown between D and U of DUKE, left point of crown to U of GAUNT, rev 1792, line of shield between C and A of LANCASTER and P and E of HALFPENNY (Atkins p.56, 11; D&H Lancashire 24). D&H 19 with minor blemishes, otherwise good extremely fine with some faded colour remaining; D&H 24 good extremely fine with substantial colour. (2)

Thomas Worswick (1728-1804), silversmith, watchmaker and jeweler, New Street, Lancaster, later bank founder and treasurer of the Lancaster Canal Navigation Company; Alexander Worswick (1765-1814), banker; Richard Worswick (1769-1819), banker. Alexander and Richard were the sons of Thomas Worswick, with the business on Church Street under the name of Thomas Worswick & Sons.
