BRITISH 18TH CENTURY TOKENS, ENGLAND, Uncertain Issuer, Copper Farthing (2), obv two busts left, GEORGE AND CAROLINA around, rev a pig with the Prince of Wales' crest on it's head, trampling on a ribbon inscribed HONOR, cards and dice strewn on the ground, LONG LIVE THE KING around, edge plain (Conder p.253, 81; Atkins p.147, 819; D&H Middlesex 1146); obv bust aligns under first limb of N of AND, rev FREEDOM TO THE SLAVE around, edge plain (Atkins p.147, 820; D&H Middlesex 1147). First extremely fine and rare, second struck on an incomplete planchet, otherwise very fine and exceptionally rare. (2)
A good many of the imitation tokens and mules listed can likely be traced to the shop of William Lutwyche. However, at this point it is purely conjecture so, for the time being, they remain listed as having uncertain origin.
