BRITISH 18TH CENTURY TOKENS, ENGLAND, Uncertain Issuer, Imitation Copper Halfpenny, Vulcan reverse, 1790, obv bust right, IOHN WILKENSON IRON MASTER around, name misspelt WILKENSON, plain coat with collar, rev figure of Vulcan seated, HALFPENNY above, edge PAYABLE IN ANGLESEY LONDON OR LIVERPOOL (D&H Warwickshire 431a). Weakly struck, otherwise fine for issue and rather rare, the only imitation, or counterfeit die pair, with a Vulcan reverse dated 1790.

A good many of the imitation tokens and mules listed can likely be traced to the shop of William Lutwyche. However, at this point it is purely conjecture so, for the time being, they remain listed as having uncertain origin.
