BRITISH 18TH CENTURY TOKENS, WALES, Uncertain Issuer, Imitation Copper Halfpenny (4), 1789, obv Druid's head left within thin oak wreath, twenty-four acorns in wreath, single inside acorn to left above point of hood, leaf stems long and with minor protuberances, four acorns at tie (3), rev P M Co cypher, 1789 above, THE ANGLESEY MINES HALFPENNY, curved 1 points to foot of Y of HALFPENNY, 9 under H of THE, edge BIRMINGHAM REDRUTH & SWANSEA (2), on large and small planchets (Conder p.4, 25; Atkins p.280, 199; D&H Anglesey 376); edge plain (Atkins p.281, 199b; D&H Anglesey 376b); obv point of the hood between inside double acorns, edge PAYBLE AT LONDON OR BRIGHTON (D&H Anglesey 377). D&H 376 on large planchet with the reverse likely wiped at some time and verdigris evident, otherwise very fine, D&H 376 on small planchet with a few scrapes, otherwise extremely fine, D&H 376b with inked number on the reverse, fine for issue, D&H 377 fine for issue, D&H 376b very rare, D&H 377 exceedingly rare.
