BRITISH 18TH CENTURY TOKENS, SCOTLAND, James Bisset & Son, James Bisset (d. 1832) and his son, Andrew (b. 1771) flax spinners, Back Street, Montrose, Copper Halfpenny, 1796, obv distant view of a town and bridge, MARE DITAT above, MONTROSE below, no stop after MONTROSE, rev woman seated with a spinning wheel, SURE ARE THE REWARD'S OF INDUSTRY around, no stop after INDUSTRY, edge plain not in collar (Conder p.13, 12; Pye p.37, 6; Atkins p.296, 19; D&H Angusshire 27). A little softly struck up on the obverse, otherwise good extremely fine with a bit of faded colour remaining, very rare.
