India (British) 1911 C (Ag) 1/2 Rupee, George V ("Pig Type") (KM: 521) Sruck in Calcutta. This is one of the true Rarities of the British Indian series, the scarcest denomination, the key date and a one year type. The so called "PIG" designation, came about due to the first striking of Rupees (Type I) which was rejected by many Indians because the Elephant on the coat of the King resembled a Pig and therefore was deemed unfit for use. Most were melted down. This is a true collector's piece and a numismatic rarity. This example is full of satin lustre and displays well struck features, thus very RARE and highly desirable in this condition.
