Maximinus II, as Caesar, Ӕ Nummus. Antioch, AD 309-310. MAXIMINVS NOB CAES, laureate half-length bust right, wearing imperial mantle and raising right hand / IOVIO PROPAGAT ORBIS TERRARVM, Maximinus standing right, holding crowning figure of Victory; A-star across fields, altar at feet, ANT in exergue. RIC 134. 6.86g, 24mm, 12h.

Near Extremely Fine, attractive sand patina and fine style. Very Rare, only one other example on coin archives.

Sutherland suggested that this reverse type was minted after the elevation of Maximinus to Augustus in 310, despite the obverse legend, as Antioch simultaneously issued coins depicting the emperor as Caesar during that year. The production of the Iovio Propagat Orbis Terrarum issue was seemingly short lived and may be representative of this transitional period for the mint at Antioch.
