Costa Rica, 1/2 real, "lion" countermark (Type VI, 1849-57) on a Costa Rica (Central American Republic) 1/2 real 1847JB, "CRESCA" variety (rare). KM-68. 1.43 grams. Host coin with the outdated spelling CRESCA discontinued late the year prior; the backside die was left over from that earlier era. Incomplete (along top band) XF countermark, heavy sedimentation and light scratches on reverse of Fine host. ($150-225)
