THESSALY, Pharsalos. Late 5th-mid 4th century BC. AR Drachm (19mm, 6.10 g, 11h). Epi–, magistrate. Helmeted head of Athena right, griffin on bowl; E behind neck guard / Warrior on horseback rearing right, wearing petasos and holding mace; EΠI below horse. Lavva 163 var. (V76/R96 - before initials engraved on rev. die); BCD Thessaly II 651 var. (same dies; same); HGC 4, 627. VF, lightly toned, die wear on obverse.

Although Laava was unaware that this reverse die was re-engraved with the magistrate's name, examples of this were previously known (see BCD Thessaly I 1291 note)
