Anonymous. 211-208 BC. AR Sestertius (12mm, 1.06 g, 12h). Rome mint. Helmeted head of Roma right; IIS (mark of value) behind / The Dioscuri, each holding spear, on horseback right; in exergue, ROMA in relief on plain tablet. Crawford 44/7; Sydenham 142; RSC 4; Type as RBW 177; Brinkman-Debernardi Cr.44-Group 3. VF, toned, light scratches on the obverse.

Cr.44 sestertius, Group 3 (cf. RRC pl. IX, 16 for the denarius denomination); for classification, see S.Brinkman and P.Debernardi, "Guide to the Anonymous Denarius," http://stevebrinkman.ancients.info/anonymous/#44-5-IX-16: "Visor defined by two long straight lines extending from the hinge over the ear, a third short line between the two long lines extending from the front of the helmet. The wing tip on the helmet is lower than the 'wrist' of the wing, and usually points slightly downward. Hair is unbound, trailing behind the ear to the back of the neck in a loose fashion. Roma's necklace is a simple raised line extending from high in the back of the neck to the front point of the truncation of the neck. Reverse horse's tail extended outward from the horses". [A.
