Michael VIII Palaeologus, 1261-1282. Hyperpyron (Gold, 28mm, 4.14 g 6), Constantinople. The Virgin orans within city walls furnished with six groups of towers. Rev. St. Michael on left presenting kneeling emperor to Christ enthroned on right, holding scroll. SB 2242. A nice example struck on a broad flan. Minor graffito on reverse and the usual areas of weak striking, otherwise, good very fine.
