EARLY MEDIEVAL AND ISLAMIC COINS AND WEIGHTS
Circa 6th-7th century. Weight of 2-ounkia (Brass, once inlaid with silver, 30x7mm, 45.08 g), a thick discoid commercial weight with a convex double-grooved profile (as MAH A30), slightly raised rims, small centering holes on the flat recessed top and bottom, ounce of 22.54 g. Within a double wreath divided into four quarters by an annulet at 0°, 90°, 180° and 270°, Latin cross above Γ°- Β. Rev. Plain. CPAI 3, 2, 174. With an attractive olive-green patina overlaid by earthen deposits. Good very fine.
