EARLY MEDIEVAL AND ISLAMIC COINS AND WEIGHTS
Circa 5th-6th century. Weight of 5-nomismata (Brass, 26x7mm, 21.93 g), a discoid coin weight with recessed top and bottom, centering holes and a plain edge between two grooves (as MAH A23), nomisma of 4.38 g. Ν - Ε within a central panel; above and below, punctate ornaments. Rev. Plain. Cf. CPAI 3,2, 558 and 559 (4-nomismata). Dark patina. Nearly very fine.
