EARLY MEDIEVAL AND ISLAMIC COINS AND WEIGHTS
Circa 6th - 7th century. Two weights, for a semissis and a tremissis (Glass, 18mm, 2.16 & 1.55 g), deep blue. The heavier has a cruciform monogram, probably to be resolved as CΕΡΓΙΟΥ, and the lighter has a square monogram, which has been explained as being the same as that of Justin II & Sofia Rev. Plain. The first, CPAI 3, 2, 734; the second, Bendall 198 and DOC I, p. 218, 60. Attractive deep blue color. Very fine.
