Sequani. Circa 70-40 BC. Unit (Potin, 18mm, 4.36 g 9), 'Grosse tête' type, 'Leiterband- Potin' variety. Celticized head with dotted headband to left, wearing torques. Rev. Horned animal with S-shaped tail advancing left. Cf. Burkardt Gruppe 3. Gäumann 71 var. (Type 5 in his hitherto unpublished work on this type). A very rare variety. A clear and most attractive example. Extremely fine.
