Segesta. Circa 415-410 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24mm, 16.93 g 7). ΣΕLΕΣΤΑZΙΑ The nymph Segesta driving slow quadriga to right. Rev. ΣΕΓΕΣΤΑΙΩΝ The hunter Aigestes, nude but for chlamys over his left arm and pileus hanging down from the back of his neck, standing right, his left foot set ropped on a rock, holding two spears in his left hand; at his feet, two hunting dogs prowling towards a herm standing left (here off flan). Rizzo pl. LXI, 21. SNG ANS -. SNG Lloyd 1197 var. A very rare and highly interesting type. Struck somewhat off center and with corrosion spots on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
