Syracuse. Hieron II, 275-215 BC. Unit (Bronze, 27mm, 17.67 g 9). Diademed head of Hieron II to left; behind head, thunderbolt. Rev. [ΙΕΡ]ΩΝΟ[Σ] Helmeted cavalryman riding horse prancing to right, holding couched lance with his right hand; below right, N. CNS II, 195. SNG ANS 924. A pleasant portrait of excellent hellenistic style. Some corrosion and smoothing, otherwise, good very fine.
