Tarentum. Circa 302-290 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 19mm, 7.81 g 7). Nude, helmeted warrior on horseback right, holding shield and two spears, thrusting spear downward; below, ΔAI. Rev. TAPAΣ Taras riding dolphin left, holding shield decorated with hippocamp and trident; to left, [ΦI]; below, to right, murex shell. Fischer-Bossert 1035. Vlasto 594. Reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.
