Tarentum. Circa 272-240 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21mm, 6.45 g 6), Lykinos and Sy.... Youthful nude jockey riding horse to left and crowning it with wreath; above, ΣΥ; below horse, ΛΥΚΙ/ΝΟΣ. Rev. ΤΑ-ΡΑΣ Taras seated on dolphin to left, brandishing trident, wearing chlamys around shoulders and left arm; to right, owl standing left. HN III 1025. Vlasto 836. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die, otherwise, extremely fine.
