Lucania
Thourioi. Circa 300-280 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 22mm, 7.86 g 7). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with Skylla hurling a stone to right. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ / ΘE Bull with lowered head butting to right; in exergue, two fish above BO. HN III 1870. SNG ANS 1083 (same dies, but reverse die recut). A beautifully toned example, struck on an unusually large flan. Some very minor flan flaws, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
