SICILY. Leontini. Circa 455-430 B.C. AR tetradrachm. 16.51 gm. 26 mm. Laureate head of Apollo left / Head of roaring lion left within linear circle, four barley grains and legend LE - ON - TI - NO retrograde around. SNG Ashmoleon 1792 (same dies). HGC 2, 668 var. (large lion's head, no circle). Very Fine; some light roughness. Good style, and perfectly centered on a large flan. Very rare with circle and small lion's head on reverse.
