Titus. As Caesar, A.D. 69-79. AR denarius. 3.48 gm. 18 mm. Rome mint. Struck under Vespasian, A.D. 77-78. His laureate head right; T CAESAR IMP VESPASIANVS / Mars standing left, holding spear and trophy; COS VI. RIC II.1 948 (Vespasian). RSC 65. Good Very Fine; sharply struck, with flatness on high points of the bold portrait; fresh surfaces; beautiful old toning with hints of iridescence. Titus commanded a legion in his father Vespasian's Jewish campaign and is notorious for sacking the temple in Jerusalem in A.D. 70.
