Extremely Fine; attractive iridescent toning; crisp strike on slightly oblong flan; attractive portrait, flan flaw before. The reign of Elagabalus was notorious for religious fanaticism, cruelty and excesses. In 222 the Praetorian guard murdered him and his mother, dragged their bodies through the streets and threw them into the Tiber.
