Gallienus Æ Mule Sestertius. Rome, AD 253. IMP C P LIC GALLIENVS AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right / VESTA, Vesta standing left, holding patera and sceptre; S-C across fields. RIC -; Cf. Bertolami Fine Arts Auction 9, 2014, lot 766 (same reverse die). 22.66g, 34mm, 12h.

Very Fine, flan crack at 8h and spots of active corrosion.

This Gallienus sestertius was struck from a reverse die created for the sestertii of Valerian (see RIC 175) and in use during AD 253, the year of the start of their joint reign.
