These issues were struck by moving mints to pay the troops of the Republican party during the Civil war following the assassination of Caesar. To produce this coinage the Republicans, lead by Marcus Brutus and Cassius, confiscated large amounts of silver and gold across the East. After the victory of the Caesarian party at Philippi, Brutus' suicide sealed the fate of the Republicans. AMP.
