Cn Domitius Ahenobarbus, admiral and later marauder during the Civil war, issued this coin possibly to commemorate his naval victory over Domitius Calvinus in 42 BC, when he was saluted as 'imperator' by his troops. It is uncertain whether the portrait is of himself or one of his ancestors. AMP.
